Curious about single-payer healthcare? Come learn about SB 562!

Indivisible Morongo Basin members have been gathering petition signatures for SB 562, the Healthy California Act, and will be sponsoring a community forum to answer your questions on June 26 in Yucca Valley.  You are invited!

What is SB 562, the Healthy California Act, and why do we need it?

SB 562 is a plan for single payer, affordable, comprehensive healthcare for all Californians. The bill is moving rapidly through the California State Legislature.

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) made history by expanding health insurance to millions of Californians for the first time. However, it left insurance companies in charge of our healthcare system. Also, even with the ACA, 3,000,000 California residents are still uninsured.

With the federal government again doing healthcare reform, moving more responsibility for healthcare to the states, it’s imperative that California establish a better, truly universal system, which finally gets costs under control. The Golden State can set the standard for the country by implementing a just and equitable healthcare system — Healthy California!

Come learn more at our community forum!  Indivisible Morongo Basin is hosting a community forum on SB 562, to be held on June 26 from 6 to 7:30 pm.  Keynote speakers are Ellen O’Rourke and Jimmi Kuehn-Boldt from Courageous Resistance Palm Springs, along with local community members who will tell their stories. There will also be time scheduled for questions and answers.  in the Yucca Room at the Yucca Valley Community Center, 57090 Twentynine Palms Hwy.  Free and open to the public.

You can help by getting the word out:  Share the event on Facebook and invite your friends.  Share the graphic on the web or print the flyer.  You can learn more about SB 562 on our new Healthcare Issues page.

June 28, 2017

This week Speaker of the California State Assembly shelved SB562, stating that the bill was woefully incomplete. This effectively stalls the bill for this year. His decision has created an uproar. If you support single payer universal healthcare for all Californians, get informed, get engaged and commit to the long haul.

Why we need to pass SB562!

Why Take Action for a Healthy California?

Covers Everybody

Each of us gets the healthcare we need through a just, equitable healthcare system that guarantees healthcare for every California resident as a fundamental human right, not just as a privilege.

Comprehensive Plan

Healthy California covers ALL medically necessary care, including medical, vision, dental, hearing, as well as mental and reproductive health. One comprehensive plan, freedom of provider choice, no more networks.

Reduces Costs

Healthy California pays for all covered services, giving it the power to eliminate waste and contain costs. Nearly all individuals and businesses would save. No more co-pays, deductibles, or surprise medical bills!

Our Healthcare

Healthy California is accountable only to the public. Doctors and nurses, not insurance companies, work with you to decide your care. This ensures that private profit never comes before public health.

Healthy California is a campaign comprised of organizations representing over 4 million Californians committed to guaranteeing healthcare for the residents of our state. Our goal is to win improved Medicare for All in California.
